Terminology

Steam Level

The level of on-page heat, spice, and explicit content. Think of it as the Scoville scale for romance.

Flash Point

Measures how quickly the romance catches fire, from slow-burn tension to instant spark.

Relationship Tropes

Friends to lovers? Grumpy/Sunshine? You'll find them all here. These are the emotional or dynamic-based tropes that capture the nature of the connection between characters.

Plot Tropes

One Night Stand. Secret Baby. These are the external or situational devices that force interaction, tension, or chemistry. They're frequently used to drive the plot forward or set the stage for relationship development. Incidentally, they're often also the cause of the dreaded Third-Act Break-Up™.

Micro Tropes

Touch Her and Die. Where's My Wife? These are the hyper-specific, swoon-inducing beats or character details that drive readers wild.
